One of any smartphone users major concerns when something goes wrong is whether they can get their data back. This includes contacts, emails, calendar events and pictures. Specifically to BlackBerry an added layer of worry is that of your BBM and BBM Music contacts. I had this worry yesterday when I decided to perform a security wipe so I got an old fashioned pen and paper out and started to write down the BB Pins of everyone that I had added to these applications. This was precautionary in case they weren't restored.
Officially, you can now restore your contact lists using just your BlackBerry ID. When you setup your phone after a security wipe (caution this will erase applications, emails and possibly your media card!) be sure to log in again with your BlackBerry ID and voila! your BBM contacts, groups and profile information will be restored!
To restore other data, BlackBerry Protect may be the answer (if of course you performed a backup previously).
