BlackBerry® Bridge - connect your BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet to your BlackBerry® smartphone

Minimum Operating System (OS) Requirements

If you have both a BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet and a BlackBerry® OS 5+ smartphone (check your device operating system) you can 'bridge' your devices over Bluetooth.
You will also need to download the BlackBerry® Bridge application on your BlackBerry® smartphone. Click the following link; BlackBerry® Bridge App World, or scan the barcode below;

To scan the QR code

  1. Open the BlackBerry® World app on your smartphone.
  2. Click the Menu key and select Scan a Barcode.
  3. Click Start Scanning. Point your BlackBerry® smartphone camera at the barcode image and hold the camera steady for 3 seconds to scan it. BlackBerry® World will instantly find the app you've selected.

Features

Bridging your devices will allow your BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet to access:

  • emails
  • text messages
  • contacts
  • calendars
  • BBM
  • notes
  • tasks
  • files on your BlackBerry® smartphone
At launch there was something called 'Bridge Browser', which allowed you to tether your BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet to the Internet using your BlackBerry® smartphone's data connection. This feature is still available but will be discussed in another post.

Bluetooth

In order to use this feature and associated application you will need to turn on Bluetooth on both your BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet and your BlackBerry® smartphone.
